I had an amazing weekend with my girlfriends in Kansas City celebrating my bachelorette party! Read more to find out details about where we danced, what we ate, and where we shopped in Kansas City.
After I got engaged, I was definitely looking forward to all of the celebrations leading up to the wedding. I love having a reason to celebrate!
So when my girlfriend, Russanne, offered to plan a bachelorette weekend, I was all in. We decided on the guest list and the location together, then she planned the rest.
It ended up being an amazing weekend! We relaxed, we ate delicious food, we danced, we stayed up way too late, we laughed a lot, and we enjoyed some drinks. It really was the perfect bachelorette weekend.
Meggan and Russanne made hilarious banners that they hung throughout our Airbnb. It definitely made the weekend more festive!
Where We Stayed
We stayed in a loft in the Crossroads Arts District near downtown Kansas City. We rented the loft through Airbnb, and it was amazing! With the six of us splitting the cost, it was super affordable to stay there for two nights.
The loft had a kitchenette with a mini fridge, toaster oven, microwave, griddle, and coffee pot. It ended up being perfect for our weekend. We all brought food so that we could have breakfast in the loft each morning, and we went out for lunch and dinner. Our host, AJ, left us freshly ground coffee from a local coffee shop.
The loft had three balconies – one large balcony off the back of the loft and two in the front off the living room and a bedroom. I think we would have spent more time on the back balcony if it wasn’t a million degrees. Seriously, it was so freaking hot and humid while we were there.
What We Ate
The Keeping Room, Nebraska City
This was such a cute restaurant in downtown Nebraska City. We stopped here for lunch on our drive to Kansas City. The restaurant is attached to a boutique that was full of cute rustic decor in a beautiful historic building. All the food is locally sourced and homemade. I had a Thai chicken peanut wrap and a cucumber salad, and it was delicious.
We were all feeling vacation mode, and ordered every dessert on the menu. We would take a bite or two of a dessert, then pass it to the person next to us. My favorites were the carrot cake, the caramel apple pie, and the lemon meringue pie. So good!
This restaurant is located in the Ambassador Hotel in downtown Kansas City. We went here for dinner on our first night in the city. It definitely had a swanky vibe and the food was amazing. I had fresh made pasta with vegetables. They also had a live jazz band, which was fun.
We stopped here for lunch after getting a recommendation from a guy working at a vintage clothing store we were shopping in. It ended up being amazing! Their margaritas and street tacos were absolutely delicious.
We went to Westport in hopes of coming upon a restaurant that looked good, and we ended up at McCoy’s. It ended up being a great choice. Russanne and I split an order of mac and cheese with roasted cauliflower, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, and a roasted garlic white truffle potato chip crust. OMG, so good! I also had a spinach salad with roasted beets, parsnips, goat cheese, and pistachios.
We stopped here after lunch and tried some delicious and unique chocolates. I’ve never seen such unique chocolate flavor combinations. It was super fun!
Where We Went Out
Power and Light District
The Power and Light District is a super fun area with lots of different bars including an outdoor bar. We made our way into a few bars then we discovered the Shark Bar, a totally cheesy dance club that played late 90’s/early 2000’s dance music.
We danced until we were completely drenched in sweat and our feet hurt. We ended up going to this bar both nights we went out. On the second night, we got back to the Airbnb at 2:45 a.m!!!
After having dinner in the Westport neighborhood, we walked around the neighborhood until I spotted a rooftop bar. I love a rooftop bar. It ended up being HopCat, a tap house. It was a beautiful night to sit outside. We went to a dance club in this neighborhood, but we didn’t know any of the music and the crowd was kind of young. So we went back to the Power and Light District.
Where We Shopped
We spent an afternoon shopping in the Plaza. I didn’t take any photos because I’ve been to the Plaza a bunch of times. But it’s always a fun Kansas City experience.
Crossroads Arts District
We went to Birdie’s, a cute lingerie store in the Crossroads Art District. We also went to a few other shops in this neighborhood.
I’m so grateful for my girlfriends! It really meant a lot to me that they took a whole weekend to celebrate with me. We had so much fun.
