This smoothie will nourish your skin from the inside. It contains ingredients that will help boost the health of your skin.
While I believe that using non-toxic skincare and beauty products is important, I believe it’s just as important to nourish your skin by eating a healthy diet.
I notice a major difference in my skin when I’m eating well. When my diet is full of nourishing greens, healthy fats and protein, and I’m drinking plenty of water, my skin is glowing.
When I’m eating more sugar, enjoying more cocktails than usual or if I have a couple slices of pizza, my skin breaks out, isn’t as glowy, and my under eye circles and wrinkles are more pronounced.
I love the way that I feel when my skin looks and feels healthy, so I’m all about filling my diet with those skin nourishing foods. Lately, I’ve been drinking a green smoothie with some special ingredients that have specific skin benefits.
I started drinking this smoothie regularly because I was experiencing a lot of breakage in my hair and my skin was looking a little dull (all the summer rosé?). After just a couple of weeks, I noticed that my nails were growing like crazy, and they’re super strong and healthy. My hair and skin are also getting better.
Here are the nourishing beauty ingredients I use:
Coconut Milk – Coconut milk is full of vitamin C, which helps improve elasticity in the skin. It’s also rich in vitamin A, calcium, iron and protein, which is great for smooth and radiant skin.
Greens – My greens powder contains vitamin C-rich alfalfa juice, which is good for healthy skin, and wheat grass juice, which is has free radical fighting antioxidant vitamins A, C and E. (It also has a natural berry flavor so you don’t have to worry about your greens drink tasting like grass ; )
Collagen Powder – Collagen makes up a large part of our hair, skin and nails. As we age, our skin loses elasticity causing wrinkles. Collagen can increase the skin’s elasticity and moisture. Collagen is also good for bone and joint health, digestion and hormone balancing.
You can mix collagen powder with water or mix it into smoothies. I use marine collagen, but you can also use beef collagen. Just make sure you buy wild caught, non-GMO marine collagen or grass-fed, non-GMO beef collagen.
Lemon – Lemon is naturally detoxifying and it’s rich in vitamin C.
Beauty Greens Smoothie
1/2 cup full-fat canned coconut milk
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 handful spinach or 1 scoop greens powder
1 scoop marine collagen powder
1 scoop vanilla plant protein powder
1/2 frozen banana
juice from 1/2 lemon
Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth.
