The fiancé and I ran our sixth Bolder Boulder 10K together on Memorial Day!
It’s a tradition that we’ve kept alive since we started dating, and something we always look forward to doing together each year.
We actually considered skipping it this year because neither of us have been running much. We were worried that running a 10K might be a lot without proper training.
But we decided to just go for it, walk as much as we needed to, and have fun. Which is exactly what we did!

We always take a car selfie at the beginning of our road trips!
Our first stop in Denver was IKEA! I bought this light fixture for the new yoga studio.
After stopping in at our friend Tyler’s house (where we stay when we go to Denver), we went to the Wonderland Brewing Co.
It’s an arcade/brewery, and lots of fun.
So good to be in Colorado!
We always eat at G’s Local Taco Bar in Westminster. They have the best margaritas, and excellent tacos. I had fish tacos and avocado black bean tacos.
Sunday, May 28
I took a yoga class at Maitri Yoga Center in Westminster. It was a great class, and I loved driving there in the morning with a view of the mountains.
After yoga, I stopped at Starbucks for a coconut cold brew. So good.
One of my favorite things is the mountain view from Tyler’s deck.
I had a green juice before we started our excursions for the day. I never eat enough vegetables while traveling, so I like to drink my greens. I usually use my Greens Blend and mix it with water, but I was out of to go packets. It’s more affordable to use my greens mix and easier to carry around.
We drove to downtown Denver so the fiancé could go to one of his favorite record stores, Twist & Shout Records. We also went to the Tattered Cover Bookstore and REI.
Then we drove to Boulder to pick up our race packets. The fiancé and I grabbed sandwiches on Pearl Street. We were both hangry.
We also took a tour of a wedding venue (!!!). It was a lot of fun and made the whole wedding thing feel a lot more real.
The view of the mountains from the car on our way back to Denver.
That evening, Tyler grilled and his girlfriend, Jennifer, made some side dishes. Some of their friends came over, and we had a great time hanging out and eating.
Monday, May 29
We took a shuttle from Denver to Boulder, and it dropped us off near the start line. We were a bit early, so we walked around, went to Walgreens in search of sunscreen and stretched before the race started.
Over 50,000 people run Bolder Boulder!
The views are gorgeous, and this guy is pretty great too.
Always slip n’ slide.
There are times when Bolder Boulder seems more like a party than a run.
We ended up running a lot more than we thought we would. It felt really good!
We reached the summit!
The race swag bag at Bolder Boulder is always amazing! I mean, you get beer.
After we hung out for awhile, we headed back to Denver on the shuttle. We took showers, grabbed lunch and drove back to Nebraska.
It was such a fun trip. I’m glad we decided to run even though we weren’t in the best running shape. I always love going to Colorado.
Have you ever run Bolder Boulder? What do you like about the race?
