Chocolate Superfood Snack Balls

I created another snack ball recipe! I’m created quite the collection of these recipes here on Sweet Success.

Cashew Cookie Balls

Pre-Workout Energy Balls

Post-Workout Vanilla Protein Balls

I love making energy balls or snack balls because they’re the perfect little snack before or after workouts, or to satisfy my sweet tooth. For me, they take the place of store-bought bars. While I do think there are some great snack bars out there (KIND and Larabars are my faves), I do think it’s more cost effective to make your own.

I usually throw together snack balls with the ingredients I have on hand. For these Chocolate Superfood Balls, I got the bright idea to throw all of my favorite superfoods together to create a nutrient-dense snack ball that would satisfy my sweet cravings.

Here’s the breakdown of these superfoods:

Hemp Seeds: Hemp seeds contain 20 amino acids and all nine of the essential amino acids, have high amounts of easy-to-digest protein, contain high amounts of vitamin E and trace minerals, and has a balanced ratio of omega-3 and omega-6 fats.

Chia Seeds: Chia seeds are full of antioxidants, are high in fiber, contain high quality protein, are high in omega-3 fatty acids and have high levels of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus.

Bee Pollen: Bee pollen helps regulate digestion, is an immune system builder, is rich in protein and amino acids and more.

Goji Berries: Goji berries are high in vitamin C and fiber, are a good source of iron and vitamin A, and contain protein.

Oats: Oats are said to enhance immune response to infection, prevent heart disease, stabilize blood sugar, lower cholesterol and more.

Cocoa Powder: Unsweetened cocoa powder contains minerals like iron, manganese, magnesium and zine that support your heart, immune system and bones.

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fat with medium chain triglycerides, which are used as a quick source of energy, improve brain health and improve blood cholesterol. It also contains lauric acid, which help kill harmful bacteria and pathogens.

Are you convinced that these are superfood balls yet??? If you don’t care about superfoods, these snack balls are just delicious. They’re perfect if you have a chocolate craving!
