The fiancé and I celebrated our engagement with a party!
Family and friends traveled from all over to help us celebrate, which made it super special.
My parents hosted the party at their new house. Because they have a huge backyard, we planned to have a party tent, an outdoor bar and yard games. But it ended up raining all morning and the crazy Nebraska wind blew in. So we moved the party indoors.
In the end, it didn’t matter that it didn’t go as planned. We had a great time with our friends and family.
We had a taco bar, and I found these adorable balloons on Etsy.
We kept all the decor really simple. I bought bright colored flowers from the grocery store, snipped the ends and arranged them in ball jars. My mom had bought these wood blocks during a trip to Philadelphia, so we used them on the drink and dessert table.
The fiancé requested mini pies, so we made cherry, apple and blueberry. My mom ordered custom ring cookie cutters, which we used to cut the pie crust.
We served lime infused water, margaritas, sangria and Mexican beer. The taco bar had ground beef, chicken and black bean taco filling along with all the taco toppings – sour cream, lettuce, tomato, salsa, etc. We also had chips and salsa.
I didn’t take a lot of photos at the party, and no one else did either! Total fail. I had really hoped someone would capture more moments from the party. Luckily, we snapped this selfie.
The fiancé did capture this super flattering photo of me laughing while eating a mini pie though, so that was a win.
My dress was from Rent the Runway, and I was so in love with it. I wanted something that was bright and fun to match our theme and decor.
After the sun went down, lots of us headed outside to make s’mores at my parent’s fire pit. We ended the night sitting outside talking and laughing.
It was such a fun party, and we were really grateful that everyone came to help us celebrate. It was the perfect kickoff to all the wedding events we’ll have over the next year!
I was also grateful for all the gifts we received from our guests! We’re set on wine for the fall/winter ; )
