I left for Denver last Thursday for FitBloggin 2015!! I went last year when it was in Savannah, and I had an amazing time. So I was super excited for this year’s conference.
However, I was a bit nervous. Last year, I had a roommate – Christina from Body Rebooted. Christina and I met on Twitter and decided to room together. Having an automatic friend made me feel a lot more comfortable when talking to sponsors, going to sessions, eating meals, etc.
This year, I went solo so I knew I would have to get out of my comfort zone and talk to people on my own. Eek!
On my way to Denver, I had to stop at Dunkin Donuts in North Platte for an iced coffee! They make delicious coffee. I also had a blueberry iced coffee donut.
Before I checked into my hotel and went to the first conference event, my parents and I went to Red Rocks! My parents tagged along with me to get away for the weekend and explore Denver while I was in my conference sessions.
Before we hiked, we stopped in Morrison for lunch. We went to The Cow Eatery, and we had the most amazing house made tortilla chips and guacamole.
And I had a delicious chicken salad…so many delicious fresh veggies!
The Cow Eatery uses lots meat and produce from local farmers for their dishes! I love Colorado!
At Red Rocks, we went on a 1.4 mile hike, and it was absolutely beautiful! I had never been to Red Rocks before, and I loved it. The hike was a bit challenging for my parents, but I was so proud of them for doing it! It was only the second time my mom had ever been hiking!
We also checked out the amphitheater. I would love to do Yoga on the Rocks there someday!
After our hike, we checked into the Westin and got settled in our room. The Westin is a beautiful hotel with great healthy amenities like renting New Balance workout clothes, the RunWestin program where you can join a morning run, a rooftop pool, a nice fitness center and…

They also had these snacks in your room. If you picked one up, you had to pay for it. A candy bar was $3.50. It was so tempting to just pick one up! I didn’t though.
Thursday night was the Welcome Mixer at FitBloggin. I checked in, got my swag bag and name tag…and had to start introducing myself. Luckily, I met Kristyn Haster of Live Lethal. We visited some sponsor booths together and grabbed drinks. (I had sushi).
When I got back to my hotel room, there was some delicious veggie pizza from Mellow Mushroom waiting for me. My mom knows what I like.
I also looked through my FitBloggin swag (not pictured is my PostureFit bar). They treat you well at FitBloggin!
Friday morning I got up early and went to bootcamp with Erin Krietz Shirey from Dig Deep, Play Hard. It was a challenging workout! I was still sore on Sunday evening! (It was hard to take selfies at the Westin. All my selfies were very yellow..ick).
I grabbed a quick breakfast – fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, Bear Naked granola, scrambled eggs and coffee.
I spent the morning going to great sessions on unique ways to earn revenue from blogging and growing your blog. However, I had a crazy bad migraine. I haven’t been having my hormonal migraines for the past few months, but this month was a different story. Maybe it was a mix of the altitude, hormones, having dairy (pizza) and being a bit dehydrated.
I ended up skipping lunch and the Soybu fashion show (sad face) to take a nap. About 45-minutes later, I got up and walked to Walgreens to buy some pain reliever.
I really wanted to go to the afternoon session because it was being presented by Jamie and Alyse from Sweat Pink!! I’m a Sweat Pink Ambassador, so I was fangirling a bit and introduced myself to them after the session.
I had a bit of a break between my last session and the evening event so my parents and I went to Union Station then walked around 16th Street to do a bit of shopping.
We also picked up ice cream at 5280 Ice Cream, a cute little ice cream shop.
I had one scoop of sea salt caramel and one scoop of brown butter pecan. To. Die. For.
That night was Ignite Fitness. Before the speakers, we ate mediteranean hors d’oeuvres – hummus, baba ganoush, pita chips, tabbouleh, grilled veggies, cucumber salad and a red velvet cupcake…and wine.

Twelve speakers give five minute presentations on the topic of their choice. Some of my faves were from Hip Healthy Chick on how to be friends with a vegan, Jill Grunenwald on running with police escort, Keep it Up David on his journey to competitively running stairs (tears!) and Brooke Not on a Diet on her journey to show her bikini body in Shape Magazine after a 170 pound weight loss.
It was a great night!
Saturday morning I got up early for Glider Yoga with Jamie King of Sweat Pink and the blog Pissed Off Metronome. It was challenging! Holy cow! I was dripping in sweat. The first 25 minutes we used the gliders, then we did a traditional flow and a short savasana.
I really liked my outfit so I took a selfie in my hotel room. Leggings from Prana, tank from Old Navy and bra from Fabletics.
For breakfast, I had fresh fruit, plain Greek yogurt with honey and Bear Naked Granola, scrambled eggs and coffee.
Before our first session, I stopped by the General Mills booth and made my own cereal mix. Mine had Chex, goji berries, chia seeds, crystalized ginger and pepitas. I had a great conversation with the dietitians from the Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition, the nutrition department of General Mills.
