This smoothie has a special ingredient that helps improve digestion – probiotics!
I’m getting a little crazy with my green smoothie making! I added a special ingredient to this smoothie that helps with digestion.
Probiotics! While this may not be a common smoothie ingredient, it’s definitely one that should be used more often!
There’s a whole ecosystem of good and bad bacteria in our gut. When we have too much bad bacteria, it can affect digestion and your overall well being.
Consuming certain probiotics can provide a regular source of good bacteria to the intestinal tract and help regulate digestion, support immunity, and maintain oral health.
The probiotic I swear by has at least 25 billion CFU’s per capsule, contains the highest quality strains, is vigorously tested, and can survive passage through the stomach. You can get it here.
If smoothies tend to make you feel bloated or if they upset your stomach, you may want to follow the rules of food combining. Only use one type of fruit in your smoothie. This will reduce the sugar content, and could be easier for you to digest.
The best fruits for improving digestion are raspberries, apples, figs, prunes, pineapple, bananas and avocados.
Flat Belly Smoothie
1 cup almond milk (no dairy milk)
1 frozen banana or 1 cup frozen pineapple
Handful of spinach
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 scoop vanilla plant protein powder
Place almond milk, banana or pineapple, spinach, avocado, ginger, cinnamon and protein powder in a blender. Open up the probiotic capsule, and pour the probiotic powder into the blender. Discard the capsule. Blend until smooth.
The probiotic that I use is at bit.ly/sara-probiotic.
