February has been all about feeling the love! We’ve been focusing on learning to love ourselves more through self-care, by being our authentic selves and by being diligent about self-love even as our bodies change.
Movement and physical activity are some of the best ways to begin feeling more love for your body and to build your self-confidence.
I totally believe that fitness is about so much more than getting sweaty and burning calories.
That’s me when I first began running!
When I began running, I couldn’t run a mile without stopping to walk. So when I crossed the finish line of my first 5K, I felt like I could do anything. I never knew that I was capable of that kind of physical or mental strength.
I truly believe running is why I am where I am today. It’s why I’m a health coach and a group fitness instructor and it’s why I started this blog. Running strengthened my confidence and my love for myself.
You don’t have to start running to experience a boost of confidence. Any time you push your boundaries, you will feel a great sense of accomplishment and pride.
If you are just starting to exercise, try walking or going to water aerobics classes. Maybe just walking around the block or making it through a class will have you feeling super fabulous.
If you workout regularly, try something new or find a way to challenge yourself. Sign up for a race, or a bootcamp class. Try yoga or a new to you fitness class.
Or set a goal. Maybe you want to be able to do a pull up or do 20 push ups on your toes. Setting a goal that will challenge you and working toward that goal, will create a sense of accomplishment.
In addition to exercise, just moving your body more throughout the day will have you feeling better and better about yourself. When you move, your body releases endorphins that make you feel good. When you feel happier, you will be feeling the self-love a little more!
What is one of your fitness accomplishments, and how did it make you feel?
