If you’ve been feeling bloated, make this simple detox water to aid digestion and gently detox. You’ll be feeling back into balance in no time!
After a weekend out of town followed by a holiday week with lots of eating out and daily glasses of wine or craft beer, I was feeling a bit bloated. No guilt and no regrets about the wonderful meals I enjoyed or the drinks I sipped each evening, but my body was telling me that it was ready for some more nourishing food and a break from alcohol.
I’m not into doing an extreme detox or cleanse, but I like to bring my body back into balance after a few days of eating delicious food and enjoying more rosé than usual. So I prefer to gently detox my body to de-bloat and reset my cravings.
Side note: One of my favorite supplements to take when I’m traveling or during holidays is Digest & Cleanse. This supplement soothes gastrointestinal upset and supports healthy digestion. It’s formulated with clinically proven essential oils that work to help prevent occasional indigestion and abdominal pain. It totally helps my digestion when I’m eating foods I don’t normally eat.
Lately, I’ve been drinking my daily Lemon, Grapefruit, and Mint Detox Water each morning.
For years, I drank my Morning Apple Cider Vinegar Drink every single morning. That recipe was great because the sweetness cut the tartness of the apple cider vinegar. But after a few years, I started to get used to the flavor of apple cider vinegar and I didn’t need as much sweetness.
So my daily apple cider vinegar drink has transformed into a simpler version – usually just water, ACV, and a drop of lemon essential oil. But for an extra boost of detoxification and digestion support, I made this recipe.
Here are some of the benefits of the ingredients that I use…
Apple Cider Vinegar – Can aid digestion, improve your intestinal flora, helps suppress your appetite, increase your metabolism, reduce water retention, and keep your blood sugar levels balanced.
Mint – Helps speed and ease digestion.
Lemon – Helps restore the body’s pH, help with digestion and are full of vitamin C.
Grapefruit – Aids in digestion, supports liver function, and helps suppress your appetite.
Rather than keeping lemon, grapefruit, and mint on hand all the time, I just use Vitality Essential Oils. Vitality Essential Oils are the only oils that are FDA approved safe for ingestion, and the only oils that I would consume. You can find out more about Vitality Oils here.
This drink has a strong flavor! I’ve become pretty accustomed to the flavor of apple cider vinegar and I love the tartness of lemon and grapefruit, so I’m in love with this detox drink. If you think it’s too strong, you can use less apple cider vinegar or add a little honey to make it sweeter.
