I’ve been obsessed with skincare lately. I used to go nuts at Sephora, and buy all the (natural) make up. But right now I’m all about my skincare routine, and it’s totally paying off.
I think my skin looks better than ever. My skin is glowing, the wrinkles around my eyes and on my forehead are less noticeable, and I don’t have breakouts anymore.
Keep in mind that what you put into your body makes a big difference for the health of your skin. Staying hydrated, eating plenty of greens, eating minimal amounts of sugar and processed foods, and drinking alcohol in moderation will help keep your skin looking healthy.
Right now I’m obsessed with Amazing Grass Beauty Elixir. I add it to my green smoothies or add a scoop to my water.
But having a regular skincare routine is also going to make a difference in the way your skin looks and feels! I’ve been using anti-aging products since my mid-twenties, but now that I’m 35 it’s even more important that I stay consistent with my skincare routine.
A few years ago, I began transitioning away from using skincare products with toxic ingredients like parabens, phthalates, fragrances, sulfate, formaldehyde, and oxybenzone. Check out the Environmental Working Group website for a list of ingredients to avoid. I avoid these ingredients because they’re absorbed into the body through the skin, and are potential health risks. According to the EWG, some ingredients used in cosmetic and skincare products are known or suspected carcinogens, toxic to the reproductive system or known to disrupt the endocrine system.
So the skincare routine I’m sharing with you today features products that are natural, and made without toxic ingredients. When I talk about my skincare routine, most people ask about the oil that I use. Does applying oil to your skin cause your skin to be oily? For me, not at all. I love having a healthy, dewy, and glowing look to my skin, and using argan oil gives me that look.
I have normal skin (not oily, not dry), so this is what works for me. If your skin is oily, you may want to experiment with different oils (argan, coconut, jojoba, rosehip) to find out which one works best for you. On the rare occasion that I have a breakout, I use coconut oil because it’s anti-bacterial and anti-microbial and it clears up my skin in just a couple of days. But most of the time I use argan oil because I like the way it makes my skin look and feel.
My Natural Anti-Aging Skincare Routine
Step 1: Wash face. Right now I’m using Pacifica Pineapple Cleanse Face Wash, but the Young Living Orange Blossom Face Wash and Mirah Luminous Cleansing Oil are on my wish list.
Step 2: Apply Vitamin C Serum. If you have acne, you may want to try the Young Living Acne Treatment.
Step 3: Apply Wolfberry Eye Cream.
Step 4: Combine a couple of drops of Organic Argan Oil with one drop Lavender Essential Oil, one drop of Frankincense Essential Oil, and one drop of Copaiba Essential Oil. If you’re not into this DIY situation, you could use the Young Living Orange Blossom Moisturizer or Young Living Sandalwood Moisture Cream or Young Living Boswellia Wrinkle Cream.
Step 5: In an upward motion, roll Jade Roller on neck, jaw line, cheeks, forehead.
Step 6: For daytime, apply Coola Suncare Mineral Face SPF 30 Sunscreen with Matte Tint or Young Living Mineral Sunscreen. In the evening, I apply Pacifica Sea Rescue Replenishing Water Gel or one of the moisturizers I mentioned in Step 4.
Since I’ve been doing this, my skin has improved so much much. I especially love using my jade roller. It looks like a paint roller, but it’s made from jade. Jade rollers have been around for centuries, and they’re supposed to help decrease inflammation (puffiness), under eye circles, plumps and firms skin, promotes circulation, and can help your skincare products soak into your skin so they can work more effectively.
It’s also cool to the touch always, which is super weird and amazing. It feels so good at the end of the day. It’s like giving yourself a relaxing face massage.
If you need a simpler skincare routine, my top tip is to wear sunscreen. If you do one thing, that’s the thing you should do! Protect your skin from the sun to prevent sun damage and wrinkles. Make sure you use a mineral sunscreen free of toxic ingredients.
