Post-Workout Vanilla Protein Balls

These vanilla energy balls are the perfect sweet snack post-workout. Full of good-for-you ingredients that will help you recover from your workout.

I’ve been super obsessed with energy balls lately. It all started when I made some energy balls for an essential oils class I hosted. I loved having a healthy, homemade and convenient snack to grab before teaching fitness classes or before going for a run.

Two weekends ago, I made three batches of energy balls. I ended up making Cashew Coconut Balls, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls and Superfood Cookie Dough.

While all of those were delicious and perfect energy before workouts or treats to satisfy my sweet tooth, I decided to make a high protein version that I could have after a workout.

These were absolutely delicious! They ended up being nutty, sweet and very vanilla.

I enjoyed a couple of these vanilla protein balls after teaching my morning indoor cycling class. I got home around 6:20 a.m., but wasn’t going to eat breakfast until 7:30. These kept me satisfied until breakfast.

These are actually great for pre- or post-workout because they do contain protein and carbs. Your body needs a bit of protein before a workout, and having protein after workouts helps your muscles recover and grow.

Have 2-3 of them after your workout. Your body generally needs between 10-20 grams of protein after a tough workout, so have a few of these to tide you over before having a meal or larger snack. The carbs in the balls will help replenish glycogen stores in your muscles.
