There’s nothing better than a cold glass of iced tea in the summer!
The BF has been making pitchers of delicious sun tea for the past few weeks, and I was inspired to put my own twist on summer iced tea.
I brewed my favorite green tea and black tea, then I added a tropical fruit flavored minerals and antioxidants drink mix. The result was a deliciously sweet iced tea!
Besides tasting amazing, the tea is also FULL of nutrition…
Green tea is packed full of antioxidants, and has been shown to improve blood flow and help lower cholesterol. Black tea can also help lower cholesterol and its anti-inflammatory properties can help ease digestive issues.
You can use whatever tea you like best, but the fruit flavors worked really well with green and black tea.
The drink mix I used to give the tea its subtle sweetness is made with freshly harvest sea vegetables and contains plant based trace minerals. The mix contains coconut water to replace electrolytes and aloe vera.
It also contains antioxidants from 11 nutrient-rich super fruits like acai, cranberry, goji, maqui and pomegranate – making it a high ORAC beverage blend. ORAC is the oxygen radical absorbance capacity and measures antioxidant levels.
Antioxidants are compounds that combat free radical damage caused by UV exposure, environmental pollution, stress and some of the foods we eat. Antioxidants help you body by:
- Protecting you from cancer
- Helping to prevent heart disease
- Slowing the aging process
- Preventing neuronal degeneration
- Improving your overall health and immune system
- Increasing your lifespan
Your body creates its own antioxidants, but we need to eat foods rich in antioxidants to keep our bodies generating enough.
Besides the antioxidant amazingness, the drink mix I used is non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, dairy-free, naturally flavored and contains no added sugar, artificial flavors, artificial colors or artificial preservatives.
